Festival Tours

Festival Tours
Dear Traveler,

We welcome you to Bulgaria! We have no extraordinary world-famous sightseeing places, but we have some real places, festivals and food to show you. Every year many different festivals in different areas would show you some old and interesting traditions, some crafts and costumes, some small rural places and cozy villages where you can feel how people have lived some time ago.
Our festival tours combine a visit to some wonderful sightseeing places with some festival events:
- Plovdiv Young Wine Festival - celebrate and welcome the new wine in Thracia - a landmark for these ancestors of Bulgarians;
- Pernik Kukeri Festival - enjoy masks and costumes to scare away the devils right after New Years in January 2016]
- Kazanlak Rose Festival - one of the famous festivals in May / June celebrating the end of rose season.

Koprivstitsa Day Tour from Sofia

April 10, 2014
Koprivstitsa Day Tour from Sofia
Dear Traveler,

We hope that you will enjoy your visit to Bulgaria as much as we enjoy showing it to you! We have traveled many places around the world and we know that visiting certain of them with a local guide makes a big difference from visiting without a guide. This is especially valid for sightseeing places with rich historical background and for places without much information displayed in English or other than Bulgarian languages.
We also know that the problem usually is the extra money we have to pay for a live guide. So we came up with the idea for sharing the extra money for a tour guide in Bulgaria with more people, willing to visit some interesting places. Additionally we use our own vehicles (vans and minibuses) but keep the groups small (maximum 16 people) so that all people can hear and see well.
Koprivshtitsa today is a little-known from tourists historic village some 120-130 km away from the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, and it is a charming small town with big history and even more important Bulgarian patriots born there. If you would like to learn and see more from the authentic Bulgaria and certainly enjoy a relaxed day out in the crispy fresh air of Sredna gora (Middle mountain), you are welcome to join our day tour from Sofia twice a week from April to October.
The scenic road is now in perfect condition, it takes you to Koprivshtica in about two hours and leaves you with great views along the Balkan mountain. Green pastures, authentic towns and villages, high mountain peaks - this is just some of the scenery to Koprivshtica.
Sine we love taking loop trips, we take a different road back to Sofia which is less suspension-friendly, but gives you the opportunity to visit a Thracian tomb in Starosel learning quickly about the ancient Thracian civilization in our Bulgarian lands.
You can easily combine this wonderful day tour from Sofia with one of our other suggestions: Plovdiv and Backovo day tour (every Tuesday and Friday) and Rila Monastery day tour (every day, all year round).

When: every Thursday and Sunday (April - October)
Where: 9:00 behind Alexander Nevski church (in fron of Mamma mia restaurant)
Operated by: V Travel minivan fleet
How much: 35 € per person; 30 € per person (groups of 6 + persons); children 1-16 years old: 30 €
Book here: www.BulgariaShuttle.com

Special event! Do not miss the celebration of the 137th anniversary from the famous April uprising, celebrated largely every year in Koprivshtitsa, the place where the revolution against the Turks started in 1876!
Only on the 1st and 2nd of May 2014!

USA Today: Tours of Sofia

Tours of Sofia, Bulgaria

Annabella Gualdoni, Demand Media
V Travel is very happy to have an article written for our services in USA Today online magazine. This is a recognition for our efforts to provide great Sofia Tours service.
The full article published in USA Today you can read here:

Sofia became Bulgaria's modern capital in 1879, after taking over the position from the city of Veliko Turnovo. It is now Bulgaria's largest city as well as its political and economic center. Although the country's main tourist center is along the Black Sea coast, tours of Sofia offer visitors many places of interest within the city.

City Sightseeing

During the summer months, City Sightseeing operates bus tours of Sofia, which depart four times daily. The bus makes four stops on its tour of the city's main tourist attractions. Churches on the route include Alexander Nevski Cathedral, St. Nedelya Church and the Russian Church. The country's past domination by the Soviet Union is evident in many of the Communist-style monuments that proliferate throughout the city, such as the Tsar Liberator Monument, the Russian Monument and the Soviet Army Monument. City Sightseeing also rents its buses for private groups and special events.

V Travel

V Travel arranges private tours in and around Sofia; its guides are locals who know the city inside and out. Its tours are private and customizable, but a recommended full-day Sofia city tour visits sites such as the National History Museum and the Boyana Church, which are outside the city center. The church is known for its frescoes, including the life cycle of St. Nicholas depicted in 18 scenes. The company offers car rentals or a car service with an English-speaking driver for tourists who prefer to take self-guided tours in private cars. V Travel also maintains several well-appointed apartments in central Sofia, which can be booked in conjunction with a city tour.
